Yesterday, our industry witnessed something unprecedented. In the past, when a CEX faced negative news, users could still freely move their assets to another platform. But this time, many users discovered something alarming: They were not unable to leave HTX — they suddenly had nowhere to go. Following the UK sanctions-related concerns around HTX, some third-party risk-control systems broadly labeled wallets interacting with HTX as “high risk.” As a result, many normal users experienced: restricted transfers, blocked transactions, and in some extreme cases, frozen accounts on other platforms simply for depositing funds from HTX. This level of large-scale, indiscriminate risk control against ordinary users is unprecedented in crypto history. What makes this even more troubling is: HTX itself is operating normally. Trading, deposits, withdrawals, and OTC services are all functioning as usual. But somehow, the users became the problem. And that is something the entire industry should reflect on. Because the people being affected are not “HTX users” alone. They also trade on Binance, OKX, Bybit, Coinbase, and many others. They belong to the crypto industry as a whole. If concerns exist around a platform, then measures should target the platform itself — not ordinary users through broad collateral damage. At the moment, HTX withdrawals remain fully operational. Users can still move assets on-chain. But if users eventually feel safer keeping funds only on-chain, or exiting entirely through OTC markets, then this is no longer an HTX issue. It becomes a crisis of trust for all centralized exchanges. And in a market already struggling with weak confidence, this could cause lasting damage to the entire industry. To put it simply: Crypto can survive without HTX. But crypto cannot survive without user trust. We want to clearly state: HTX fully supports compliance efforts and is actively cooperating with all relevant parties to resolve misunderstandings as quickly as possible. We respect the need for exchanges to follow compliance requirements. But we also believe ordinary users should not become victims of flawed or overly broad risk-control systems. Therefore, we sincerely call on all exchanges and industry partners to: 1️⃣ Work together with third-party security and compliance providers to address the current situation affecting users, and improve industry-wide risk-control standards. 2️⃣ Implement more precise review mechanisms for normal users interacting with HTX, so legitimate funds and users are not unfairly impacted. HTX is fully willing to cooperate throughout this process. Finally, to everyone who still trusts HTX and continues to keep assets on our platform: Thank you. HTX will not run away. We will stay here, face the situation directly, and continue working until these issues are fully resolved.

This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian

I didn’t expect an article this long to reach millions in today’s 3-second attention span economy. I’ve read every single quote and comment. To be honest, I’m overwhelmed. I’ve never felt this much warmth on this platform. And I’m just deeply, sincerely grateful. Thank you, truly. I’m not much different from anyone else who just entered this space. The only real difference is that I’ve bled more. I’ve lost more. As a Christian, my faith gave me this habit of constant reflection, and forced me to look in the mirror and face the rot inside me. It gave me a way out when I was drowning, and eventually, that became my redemption. Crypto was meant to be about anarchy. It was meant to be the middle finger to the gatekeepers in suits who think they’re better than us. That spirit feels dead lately, but I still believe in it. I have to. This space changed my life, and I’ll keep building here until the wheels fall off. But I’m not going to pretend I had some perfect journey. In my early years, I got absolutely fucked by Ponzis. I couldn't control my greed and lost most of my early Bitcoin (thank you, MMM). I was just a naive kid. Every time I think about this part, I want to apologize to my mom. She had zero clue what I was actually doing. I was literally sneaking out every other night to act as a middleman in Vancouver’s nightlife. I was sourcing and flipping Moutai, whiskey, and expensive cigarettes to rich Chinese university students. I was the one brokering the VIP tables and getting people through the door. Honestly, I was just really good at getting rich kids to come to parties. I know people look down on that kind of "job." It isn't something people proudly say like "I worked at Google." But I’m proud of it. I was literally making an entry-level Google salary as a teenager just by being a better hustler than the adults. Without that hustle, I wouldn't have anything I have today. That revenue stream was the only reason I could keep buying back into Bitcoin. I was sitting on a level of wealth I had to hide from my parents for years. No parent in their right mind would let an underage kid handle that amount of wealth. I’ve never known what it’s like to get rich quick overnight. For me, it was always a long, grueling season. The closest I ever came to “getting rich overnight” was thanks to Cryptokitties. Watching my kitties flip every day for weeks while ETH was mooning... that was the first time I actually felt like I’d made it. But the scariest thing is when God gives you a "trial card" to see a world you aren’t ready for, only to snatch it back and throw you to the bottom. In late 2018, when prices had dumped to a devastating low (again...), I had to go right back to the middleman business to get more bullets. But that time, I was different. My faith had shifted my perspective. I wasn't just chasing a high anymore. I knew, with everything in me, that crypto was the destiny I was meant to build. If you're at your lowest right now, don't let the ego stop you. I've been in those dark times too. Nothing is "too tacky" when you are grinding to fund your vision. Whether you're hauling inventory, flipping goods, or doing the gritty backend work no one else wants to touch - do what you need to do. Tell those who try to shame you to fuck off. Because when you finally make it one day, they will all come back to you acting like they were your biggest fans from the start. The people judging you from the sidelines aren't the ones who are going to change your life. You are. Keep building. I'm right here with you.

I’d like to share that I’ll be leaving Bandai Namco at the end of 2025. With the TEKKEN series reaching its 30th anniversary—an important milestone for a project I’ve devoted much of my life to—I felt this was the most fitting moment to bring one chapter to a close. My roots lie in the days when I supported small local tournaments in Japanese arcades and in small halls and community centers overseas. I still remember carrying arcade cabinets by myself, encouraging people to “Please try TEKKEN,” and directly facing the players right in front of me. The conversations and atmosphere we shared in those places became the core of who I am as a developer and game creator. Even as the times changed, those experiences have remained at the center of my identity. And even after the tournament scene grew much larger, many of you continued to treat me like an old friend—challenging me at venues, inviting me out for drinks at bars. Those memories are also deeply precious to me. In recent years, I experienced the loss of several close friends in my personal life, and in my professional life I witnessed the retirement or passing of many senior colleagues whom I deeply respect. Those accumulated events made me reflect on the “time I have left as a creator.” During that period, I sought advice from Ken Kutaragi—whom I respect as though he were another father—and received invaluable encouragement and guidance. His words quietly supported me in making this decision. Over the past four to five years, I’ve gradually handed over all of my responsibilities, as well as the stories and worldbuilding I oversaw, to the team, bringing me to the present day. Looking back, I was fortunate to work on an extraordinary variety of projects—VR titles (such as Summer Lesson), Pokkén Tournament, the SoulCalibur series, and many others, both inside and outside the company. Each project was full of new discoveries and learning, and every one of them became an irreplaceable experience for me. To everyone who has supported me, to communities around the world, and to all the colleagues who have walked alongside me for so many years, I offer my deepest gratitude. I’ll share more about my next steps at a later date. Thank you very much for everything. 【Postscript】 Although I will be leaving the company at the end of 2025, Bandai Namco has asked me to appear at the TWT Finals at the end of January 2026, so I expect to attend as a guest. For 30 years I kept saying, “I’ll do it someday,” and never once performed as a DJ at a tournament event. So instead, I will be releasing—for the first and last time—a 60-minute TEKKEN DJ-style nonstop mix (DJ mix), personally edited by myself, together with this announcement. Listening to it brings back many memories. Thank you again, sincerely, for all these years. ‘TEKKEN: A 30-Year Journey – Harada’s Final Mix’ by Katsuhiro Harada 1 is on #SoundCloud# December 8, 2025 - The Final Day of TEKKEN’s 30th Anniversary - Katsuhiro Harada ‘TEKKEN: A 30-Year Journey – Harada’s Final Mix’ by Katsuhiro Harada 1 is on #SoundCloud# 様々な思い出が蘇ります。改めて皆さんありがとうございました。 2025年12月8日 - 鉄拳30周年最終日 - Katsuhiro Harada
