【Homage or Critique?】
Villa Savoye (France), the pristine white masterpiece by the pioneer of modern architecture, Le Corbusier.
When designing the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) at the National Museum of Australia, the architects at ARM Architecture took a jaw-dropping approach: they copied Le Corbusier’s blueprints, flipped them left-to-right, and painted the entire structure jet black.
This isn't a cheap imitation; it's a brilliant piece of architectural critique and wit. Human creativity evolves not just through pure invention, but through how we reinterpreting and subverting past masterpieces.
