an American artist moved to Japan and ended up winning a manga contest...but would she suggest other artists do the same?? Q: Would you recommend other artists come to Japan and/or enter manga contests? If so, what advice do you have for them? Linnea Kataja: "Whether someone should come and live in Japan is going to vary a lot from person to person. "Some people love it here, while others don't mesh with it and end up returning to their home country because it wasn't what they expected. "If you have the opportunity to live in a foreign country, even for a short time, I would highly recommend it. Living abroad can give you new perspectives on both your own life and the country you grew up in that you wouldn't have had otherwise. "In general, the people I see doing well in Japan tend to be fairly independent and have clear goals for what they want to accomplish here, whether that's building a career or creating a family life they enjoy. "If you're serious about moving to Japan, learning Japanese is essential. If possible, try to become conversational or fluent before moving here, since it will open up many more opportunities and make daily life much smoother overall. "As for entering manga contests, I think they can be a valuable experience simply because of what you can learn from them. Many contests offer editor feedback even if you don't win a prize, and that feedback can help you understand what you need to improve in order to create more professionally viable work." **please check out Kataja's contest-winning oneshot "This Foreigner is Too Otaku to Make Her Dreams Come True" on her X profile (Keiko Kup)

Driving My Tesla from the Arctic Ocean to Tierra de Fuego in the Dead of Winter… I am proud to announce that on July 16th, I became the first SOLO person in history to drive the FULL length of the Americas with an Electric Vehicle! Total Duration: 747 Days Countries: 15 Longest Wait Time to Charge: 3 days (Peru) Fastest Charge: 35 Minutes (Chile) Distance driven - 46,961km (29,350mi) Windshield broken: 0 Flat tires: 0 (OMG) - No Spare Ran out of Range: 1 (Chile - Atacama Desert) Total energy consumed: 8,444 kWh Ave Energy Consumption: 179.8 Wh/km (286Wh/mi) Bribes Paid: 1 - $100 USD Robbed: 0 Fines: 0 Breakdowns: 0 Dogs Adopted Me: 100+ Funny Police Searches : 2 The Pan-American Highway is the world’s longest highway, almost spanning the full length of North and South America. Before today, no one had yet driven from the tippy top of North America (Tuktoyaktuk) into the Darien Gap to the southern tip in South America (Ushuaia) in an electric vehicle solo - unsupported. My Model X, Beluga, was converted into the ultimate stealth overlanding rig, with a full kitchen, running water, Starlink and 300 watts of solar panels on the hood, which allowed us to roam across some of the best most remote places on Earth with confidence. The real challenges here…border crossings, cartels, and corrupt cops, yet I embraced it all. Charging on the other hand, was quite a puzzle sometimes, being a foreigner and having very little information to go on. I discovered how far along the electric movement is and where the short comings lie…and I can say with confidence that Tesla Supercharging is the best and most reliable infrastructure out there… I wanted to showcase that anyone with a dream can make it happen, without needing all the answers. Thank you to all the kind strangers that helped along the way, and the countless dogs that adopted us and kept guard at night! The irony..Ushuaia currently doesn’t have any power…so this message is coming from Space, Powered by my Custom Solar Panels! @Tesla

It was great to see so many foreigners enjoy themselves in the US and have positive reactions to Americans. But some of this was sad because it was clear that many had absurd preconceived notions due to mass media in their countries, especially in Europe. Like Mark Twain said, those who don’t read newspapers are uninformed; those who do are misinformed.

One of the BEST new policies under President Trump is a $100 SURCHARGE paid by EACH FOREIGNER entering our National Parks It made my trip to Zion Nat’l Park this week SO much more enjoyable US taxpayers are PRIORITIZED now🇺🇸 American citizens pay $35 per carload, and foreigners now pay $35 PLUS $100 per person. Foreign carload of 4? That’ll be $435. Exactly how it should be. American taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing their vacations. Thank you, @SecretaryBurgum and President Trump!

I want every foreigner visiting America for the World Cup to realize this is 100% legal. And every town in the USA is filled with patriots who have armories like this. Every block, actually. This is why we will never be conquered and are awesome 🇺🇸

Stephen Miller just Issued The Greatest On-Air TAKEDOWN of Birthright Citizenship You Will EVER See “If your ruling requires you to SUICIDE your civilization, your reading of the Constitution is wrong.” “This is absolutely a deep knife wound in the heart of the American republic.” “There is no possible reading of the 14th Amendment that applies to foreigners with foreign loyalties, foreign citizenship, foreign obligations, foreign everything.” 🔥🔥🔥
