Raul Morales, 51, has been charged with attempted murder as a hate crime, assault as a hate crime, and criminal possession of a weapon for stabbing 50-year-old Moshe Grunhaus on Thursday.
Morales also faces several charges in connection with the stabbing of Chok Sung, a 57-year-old Asian man, but he is not facing a hate crime charge in this instance.
Both victims are expected to survive, and Grunhaus's former Rabbi says he is "in good spirits."
