Night Street Games has laid off about a dozen workers, roughly half the team, leaving only 13 people at the studio.
Their first game, Last Flag, simply didn’t make enough money.
Some members of Imagine Dragons helped launch the studio and funded the project.
The studio has now stopped major updates. Over the next couple of months it will roll out a handful of final additions
After that, the team will hand the game’s future over to the players while keeping the servers online.
Studio leader Mac Reynolds said the team had worked incredibly hard and that he is proud of what they built and The studio is actively helping the laid-off workers find new jobs
Last Flag flopped hard on Steam.
The game was made by Night Street Games, founded by Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds, and launched on April 14.
It peaked at 558 concurrent players the day after release but has since crashed.
It now averages under 100 daily Steam players, with recent 24-hour peaks dropping to around 75.
The market is oversaturated with these kinds of games.
