Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, is criticizing Steam again over court documents claiming Valve pressured Ubisoft over a cheaper version of Rainbow Six Siege sold on its own store.
Sweeney says a dominant store taking a 30% cut can bully developers into not passing savings to customers on competing platforms with lower fees.
“Is this the ‘fair competition’ praised by recent articles? If a store with dominant market share taking a 30% cut can bully developers into not passing on savings to customers on competing stores with lower fees, then competition doesn’t stand a chance.”

The Silent Hunter III community on the Subsim forums pushed submarine simulation realism far beyond what most games attempted at the time.
Players researched real World War II naval records, submarine manuals, and veteran accounts to debate mechanics like torpedo behavior, sonar performance, dive depths, and convoy routes.
After Ubisoft acquired the series, the company worked directly with the community instead of shutting modders out. Fans gained access to parts of the game’s code to develop fixes and improvements.
This collaboration led to projects like the Grey Wolves Expansion (GWX), which rebuilt large parts of the game with more realistic AI
The result was one of the most authentic submarine simulation experiences ever made.

Daniel Vávra, the creator of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and head of Warhorse Studios mocked Ubisoft after the company’s latest layoffs and financial results.
He pointed out that Ubisoft still has around 16,600 employees, while Warhorse Studios has about 250. According to him, that means Ubisoft’s workforce is equal to roughly 70 studios the size of Warhorse.
“Ubisoft has 16 600 employees after layoffs. Ooops. Thats about 70 Warhorse sized studios. That could be 10 KCD2 sized games, each developed for 7 years, released every year!”

Ubisoft is getting backlash over Anne Bonny in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake.
In the original 2013 game, Anne Bonny had a bold outfit with cleavage that matched her tough pirate style, but in the remake her top is much more covered.
They probably hired a consultant to adjust for modern audiences.
Fans are angry because they say Ubisoft censored her look and only changed her clothes while leaving everyone else the same.
If it’s not a big deal, why change it

Ubisoft is increasing its investment in generative AI to create more interactive gaming experiences.
The company is working on a project called “Teammates,” where AI-powered characters can react and respond to players in a more natural way.
Ubisoft wants NPCs and companions in games to feel smarter and more realistic. These AI characters could adapt to player actions, respond during gameplay, and enable less scripted conversations and events.
The company is also using AI to help game development by improving testing, coding support, and managing large open-world games.
Ubisoft’s future games, including major franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, may include more AI-driven features as the company continues investing in this technology.
