This is Messier 82 (M82), better known as the Cigar Galaxy.
M82 has been observed many times before, including by
@Hubble_Space but its details have until now been shrouded by dust.
After 65 hours of observations with the #
NIRCam# on Webb, which can pierce through this dust, M82 has been revealed in all its sparkling glory. There are approximately 16.5 million stars visible in this image! 🤯
