BREAKING: SpaceX is building its own gas pipeline to fuel Starship launches, called Starpipe. • The pipeline will supply natural gas directly to Starbase in Texas. • The pipeline will replace the need for hundreds of methane tanker truck deliveries • It is expected to begin operations by January 2027. • Starship uses around 630,000 gallons of liquid methane per launch. The company has already completed 12 Starship test launches and aims to scale to dozens, then hundreds, and eventually thousands of launches per year.

SPACEX: On May 20th, the Port of Brownsville Navigation District Board of Commissioners unanimously approved authority to negotiate an easement and right-of-way for a SpaceX planned 16-inch natural gas pipeline from the Port of Brownsville to Starbase. The proposed underground line spans approximately 5.76 miles. This does not grant final construction approval; additional engineering, environmental, and regulatory steps remain pending. This could eliminate the massive amount of truck needed per launch.
