As the Senate failed to advance a war powers measure for the seventh time on Wednesday that would limit President Trump’s ability to use military force against Iran, Sen. Lindsey Graham called the War Powers Resolution “patently unconstitutional.”
“The whole concept of a war powers act is dangerous, absurd, and will lead to just chaos,” Graham (R-SC) said.
"You can't have Congress running wars," he added. "If you want to stop war, stop the funding.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) questioned U.S. military officials after a CBS News report that Pakistan may be allowing Iranian military aircraft to use its airfields, potentially shielding them from U.S. strikes. Graham said if true, it raises doubts about Pakistan’s role as a mediator, adding, “No wonder this damn thing is going nowhere.”
The U.S. officials, who all spoke only under condition of anonymity to discuss national security issues, told CBS News that days after President Trump announced the ceasefire with Iran in early April, Tehran sent multiple aircraft to Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan, a strategically important military installation located just outside the Pakistani garrison city of Rawalpindi.
