Diese müssen ihre rechnerischen CO₂-Emissionen um zehn beziehungsweise sieben Komma fünf Prozent senken – ermittelt allein über ein Simulations-Tool der EU. Viele gängige Modelle wie Pferdetransporter, Baustellenanhänger oder normale Zuganhänger werden dadurch deutlich teurer oder in der bisherigen Form nicht mehr neu zugelassen. Ab 2030 drohen Strafzahlungen von 4.250 Euro pro Fahrzeug und Gramm überschrittener Emissionen je Tonne und Kilometer. Die Branche warnt vor Preissteigerungen von bis zu 40 Prozent. Acht führende Hersteller haben deshalb bereits Klage vor dem Europäischen Gerichtshof eingereicht und sehen über 70.000 Arbeitsplätze in Gefahr.
