Our first Kite demo was ChatGPT ordering Uber Eats for you. It never got past the login screen. Uber's CAPTCHA was built for humans, and agents cannot pass it. On @gracegongGG's Venture with Grace, our Co-Founder & CEO @ChiZhangData traced how that moment shaped the way we design Kite. ▷ The demo died at the login, not at ordering or paying. The blocker was proving the agent was allowed to be there at all. Spinning up a browser extension to click through the CAPTCHA works, but it is a temporary stage of how agents and the internet should work together. ▷ The permanent path is identity. Every agent needs to prove who it is and where it comes from, carrying who its human or organization principal is, what its purpose is, and the exact authorization scope for that session or request. An agent showing up with no reason is either hallucinating or attacking you. ▷ Where this is heading: an API-first agentic internet, where headless agents authenticate without human login credentials. x402 and MCP are already marching toward that. Kite Agent Passport is that identity layer: verifiable identity, delegated authority, and permissions scoped per session. No more "prove you're human." 🪁

These are photographs from the very first portfolio I shot after arriving in Mumbai in 1981. I was 25 years old. A young man from Shimla with a suitcase full of dreams and a heart full of belief. The city was enormous. It could make you feel like a tiny drop in a vast ocean. Every face looked more confident, every street seemed to be moving faster than my dreams. There were days when my premature balding bothered me. I wondered if people would see my hair before they saw my talent. But then I would remind myself of one thing… I knew my craft. The National School of Drama had given me confidence. Life had given me hunger. And hunger, when it is backed by hard work, becomes a powerful force.😍 People often ask me, “Did you know you would make it?” No. I didn’t know. But I knew I would never stop trying. Dreams are strange. They don’t come true because you merely wish for them. They come true because you wake up every morning, work on them relentlessly, survive rejection, silence your fears, and keep showing up. If you truly believe in your dream, your dream slowly begins to believe in you. Looking at these photographs today, I don’t see a struggling actor. I see a young man who refused to negotiate with his dreams. he held world records, the fastest finswimmer alive, and the day it counted he swam the wrong direction. down into a sunken bus, in cold sewage he could not see through, pulling strangers up one at a time until the lake took the lungs that made him a champion… september 16, 1976. a trolleybus carrying around ninety-two people went off a dam near yerevan and dropped into the reservoir, sinking about ten meters down, twenty-five meters from shore. shavarsh karapetyan had just finished a 20 km training run with his brother when he watched it go under. he swam out, went down, and kicked the rear window in with his feet. the water was near black. he worked by touch, diving to the bottom again and again, bringing one body up each trip and handing it to the boat. he pulled up close to forty-six people. twenty of them lived. the reservoir was fouled with sewage. the glass cuts and the filthy water in his chest turned into blood poisoning and pneumonia, and he spent about forty-five days in a hospital bed. when he came out the lungs that had made him the fastest swimmer on earth were scarred for good. he was twenty-three, and his career was finished. here is the part that stayed underwater longer than any of them. for about six years the state said almost nothing. no headline, no ceremony worth the name. only in 1982 did a newspaper finally print what happened at the lake, and then the mail came, tens of thousands of letters from people who had never been told. there is a minor planet out past mars now, 3027 shavarsh, named for a man his own country could not be bothered to mention for six years. in 1985 he passed a burning sports complex in yerevan and went in again, and came out burned. twenty people walked off that shore alive. the man who put them there lost the lungs that made him the fastest swimmer on earth, and waited six years for anyone to say it out loud.
