Lenovo’s controversial G02 retro handheld is returning to the market despite the company’s recent crackdown. After several Alibaba and AliExpress listings were removed over copyright concerns, new sellers have appeared offering the device for around $41 per unit. The G02 was originally intended only for the Chinese market but gained attention after reports claimed some units were sold with thousands of preloaded retro games, including copyrighted Nintendo titles. Lenovo says official G02 units do not include memory cards or preinstalled games and believes third-party sellers may be adding the content before resale.

Toei Animation, the studio behind One Piece, is calling for stronger action against anime piracy and wants more support from the Japanese government to protect anime rights worldwide. The company says piracy remains a major problem as anime grows more popular internationally. Reports show anime now accounts for about one-third of Japan’s total overseas content revenue, making it one of the country’s most valuable entertainment exports. Toei believes better copyright protection is needed so studios, creators, and production teams can earn revenue from their work. The company is urging the Japanese government to collaborate more closely with international partners to combat illegal anime streaming and distribution.

X user speaks out after UMG allegedly falsely filed a DMCA takedown over a post about Drake that contained no music — only opinions. “So clearly, they're not just trying to sabotage Drake's new release. They are trying and using DMCA to take down any narrative that they do not like. This is a form of copyright abuse that a certain company that works with the Super Bowl has also used. If you have posted anything associated with Drake's music at all, you are subject to getting a DMCA claim.”

An indie game developer who was blocked on Steam over “potential infringement” of his own work has finally received approval after submitting a license declaration to himself. According to the developer, Steam’s review process flagged parts of the game for possible copyright concerns, even though the assets and content were created entirely by the developer. To resolve the issue, he reportedly had to provide formal documentation confirming that he had permission to use his own work. These systems are designed to prevent stolen or unauthorized content, but sometimes create frustrating situations for indie devs

Level-5, the Japanese developer and publisher behind popular game franchises such as the Inazuma Eleven series and the Yo-kai Watch series has issued an official statement condemning piracy of their games The company states that these activities constitute copyright infringement and warns that it may pursue legal actions, including content takedowns and account suspensions across online platforms. It has also asked its community to refrain from downloading or using pirated copies of its games.
