A source confirmed that single-digit number of Chinese ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz after settling the toll payment via backdoor channels. So far only ships carrying crude oil are moving. Those carrying other cargoes such as sulphur are still staying on put. I guess this is because the former can pass along the extra cost downstream but the latter can’t. Insurance premium is more than 5X prewar without any international reinsurance. Business interruption is still at severe level but there seems to be a dim light at the end of the tunnel, for Chinese interests at least.
