This happened in Monroe, Louisiana. A man rolls up on his E- bike at Lowe’s store in outside garden. He grabs something (I don’t know what it is) and he’s getting ready to take off. Just another day in Monroe. This gentleman walks up and says something to him, probably to the tune of like why are you stealing? The guy on the bike seems to get upset. The man turns and walks away. I like how the other guy passes by, looks over and just keeps on walking. 🙄 Many people said they don’t understand why people would put themselves in harms way over a Fortune 500 company, they aren’t struggling they said and they have insurance. And others said they understood because of this economy and the times we are in. 😳 But a lot of others said this is one of the reasons our prices keep going up and it is not okay to justify stealing because of the economy. A Lowe’s employee said there is so much theft that it affects their livelihood, it affects their bonuses. What do you think? Is it worth confronting someone if you notice they are stealing from a store? Or should you just mind your own business and keep on walking?

In 2008 Elon Musk had $0 left. He had poured his entire $180,000,000 PayPal fortune into SpaceX and Tesla. SpaceX had just failed its third rocket launch in a row. Tesla was on the verge of bankruptcy. His marriage fell apart. He lost his house. He was borrowing money from friends just to pay rent. In an interview that year he broke down in tears and said: “I never thought I was someone who could ever be broken. But 2008 broke me. I just didn’t know how I was going to make it.” Three months later SpaceX launched successfully for the first time. Six months later Tesla closed a financing round on Christmas Eve, literally hours before bankruptcy. Today SpaceX is worth $350,000,000,000. The people who told him to save his money and go sit on the beach are watching.

WATCH: Elon Musk on Starship's fundamental breakthrough, live with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon. Starship will be the first orbital rocket that is fully reusable, Musk says. Every other form of transport is reused as a matter of course. Planes, cars, ships, bikes, even horses. A plane ticket would cost a fortune if you threw the aircraft away after one flight. That is exactly how rockets have worked until now. Full reusability is what changes the economics of spaceflight.

Justine Musk on being married to Elon Musk what it means to a visionary In her TED Talk “Visionaries are People Who Can See In The Dark”, Justine Musk shares her experience reading a recent profile Elon: “He’s quoted as saying something to a friend — and this happened during the time we were still married together… He said that he was prepared to sacrifice his entire fortune to get a rocket into orbit. And he said, ‘I don’t care if Justine and the kids and I end up living in Justine’s parents’ basement. I’m going to make this happen.’ And so I read this and kind of wanted to go back in time, go up to him, take him by the shoulders, look him very seriously in the eyes, and say, ‘Have you seen my parents’ basement?’” Justine reflects what it means to be a visionary: “Visionaries take all that passion, their badass personalities, their mad skills, and the mastery of their chosen subject matter, and they use it to put themselves on the line unlike anybody else you’ll ever meet. And it’s this that allows them to open up windows into another, deeper reality in which transformation is possible and things of awe happen on a regular basis.” She continues: “In the beginning, we don’t trust them because we think they’re crazy, but by the end, we trust them because we know they’re crazy. They’re crazy enough to accomplish anything and risk it all in order to bring us something new to believe in. They might make lousy husbands and terrible wives. They might be the friend who never sends you a birthday present and forgets to show up for coffee. But they bring light to the dark, and they show us the universe.” Source: @TEDTalks (Jun 2017)
