AI can make scalable goods and services extremely cheap. It cannot mass-produce beachfront land, homes in desirable locations, original art, elite access, human attention or status. As ordinary goods approach zero cost, more demand will chase the things whose supply cannot expand. These β€œpositional goods” may become more expensive, not less. Money may matter less for basic needs, but ownership and purchasing power could matter even more for everything that remains scarce.
