A new security bug in the Linux kernel called Dirty Frag lets any normal user gain full root access very reliably without crashing the system by exploiting two issues in the kernel, one of which is already fixed in the newest main version while the other still needs a fix.
It affects many popular Linux versions including
-Ubuntu 24.04.4
-RHEL 10.1
-Fedora 44
-openSUSE Tumbleweed
-CentOS Stream 10
-AlmaLinux 10
There is a working exploit code now available on GitHub, so update your kernel as soon as possible.
