Xizang Gyirong Mudslide: Mass Rescue Under Way at China‑Nepal Border Port
A massive mudslide struck Gyirong Port in Shigatse, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on August 26. Round‑the‑clock rescue operations are under way. Officers of the Shigatse Border Management Detachment rushed relief supplies through the dark and set up tents for displaced residents. Police from the Gyirong Border Police Station joined local units in sheltering affected people, and pored over topographic maps with government staff to guide search‑and‑rescue efforts for the missing.
