Xizang Gyirong Mudslide: Mass Rescue Under Way at China‑Nepal Border Port A massive mudslide struck Gyirong Port in Shigatse, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on August 26. Round‑the‑clock rescue operations are under way. Officers of the Shigatse Border Management Detachment rushed relief supplies through the dark and set up tents for displaced residents.
