Japanese indie developer Daikichi had the demo for his 3D action game Wired Tokyo 2007 blocked by Steam over alleged IP infringement.
The flagged assets are dinosaur-themed card games that appear in the environment, but they actually come from his own previous release, Dinostone, which launched in 2023 under the same name.
Steam is demanding formal proofs such as signed license agreements or attorney legal opinions before the demo can proceed.
As a solo creator, Daikichi submitted a self-signed permission document as a workaround and noted how challenging and costly these requirements are for indie devs
