The Pentagon has awarded Microsoft a five-year contract worth up to $9.7 billion to simplify software use across the U.S. military and federal agencies.
The agreement aims to reduce “license sprawl” by consolidating purchases under one contract. The Defense Department hopes this will lower costs
The deal covers:
-Microsoft software
-cloud services
-productivity tools for the Pentagon
-intelligence agencies
-U.S. Coast Guard.
Officials said much of the spending already existed through older contracts, but this move combines them into a single system.
