Microsoft is finally cleaning up some of Windows’ oldest UI elements.
The company is replacing ancient dialog boxes that survived through multiple Windows versions, some tracing their roots back to the Windows 95 era.
Rather than a fresh coat of paint, Microsoft is rebuilding these interfaces using modern Windows technologies.
The file copy dialog is one of the first to get the upgrade, with more changes coming for security prompts, file conflict warnings, and the classic Run dialog.
It’s part of Microsoft’s effort to make Windows 11 feel more consistent.
