🚨 do you understand what just happened to Claude..
Anthropic just reset every 5-hour and weekly rate limit for all Pro and Max users at once.
The reason: Opus 4.8 was quietly spawning armies of parallel subagents on its own and burning through everyone's usage faster than intended.
- April 2026: a free 20-100 dollar extra usage credit dropped right as third-party harnesses got cut off
- May 6: 5-hour limits permanently doubled and peak-hour throttling killed
- May 13: weekly limits boosted 50 percent through July
- May 15 and June 1: full manual resets for every paid subscriber
The pattern is the strategy. Every reset is soft power against Codex, Copilot and Grok dressed up as an apology

We've reset 5-hour and weekly rate limits for all users on Pro and Max plans.
We fixed an issue that caused some Claude Code sessions to spawn excessive parallel subagents, burning through usage faster than expected.
