At @SpaceX’s Rocket Development Facility in McGregor, Texas, I joined Congressman @PeteSessions and McGregor Mayor Jim Lilley to present Andrew Berkowitz with NASA’s Exceptional Public Achievement Award.
Andrew’s pioneering research to better understand liquid methane and oxygen explosions is helping enable the next generation of rockets that will return Americans to the Moon, establish a sustained U.S. presence on the lunar surface, and prepare us for Mars.
America’s greatest achievements in space are built by extraordinary people whose work often happens behind the scenes. Andrew’s contributions will help shape the future of exploration for years to come.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Andrew, and thank you for your contributions to NASA’s mission and America’s future in space.

Pretty clear from this shot that @SpaceX knows where we are going! Congrats on getting Flight 13 underway. Excited for what will be learned from this mission. When Starship comes online, its capabilities will be game-changing, not least of which will be ensuring we never give up the Moon again!

NASA is deploying experts to help determine root cause, support recovery efforts, and keep critical lunar systems moving forward. We are putting extreme focus on the lander to ensure timelines for the Artemis III orbital test mission remain on schedule.
At NASA, we remain laser focused on our mission to return astronauts to the lunar surface before 2028. We test, we learn, we improve and we will never stop until the objective is achieved.

The near impossible is becoming possible.
We are building toward a sustained human presence at the lunar South Pole. It begins with Phase 1: CLPS landers and LTV rovers testing the “science of survival” on the lunar surface before heavy HLS cargo landers deliver the mass and infrastructure needed for an enduring presence.
We are building the Moon Base for all we will learn, the innovation that will improve life on Earth, the inspiration for the next generation of explorers, and to master the skills needed for where we will inevitably go next...Mars.
