When you read about how USAID was started by ex-CIA people, funneled state department money through NGOs into crazy subterfuge and censorship that no taxpayer would ever know about or approve, you realize how wild it was.
It’s basically like Elon got rid of Hydra from marvel and people are mad about it.

Provide contact information for the recipients of aid, so that we can confirm it is not fraudulent.
The reality is that money was being sent to corrupt politicians under the guise of aid! Liars and stock insider traders like Ro the Robber should be in prison!!

The simplest question to ask a socialist is how much of their own money they have given to the causes they support
The answer is always 0
On some deep psychological level, it’s because they see taxation and control of other people’s money **as their contribution** to solving the problem
Some people really do care about the causes (doubtful that ro or warren or aoc or Bernie do at all) but regardless the core moral error is they think that being the one to demand where money is spent is a morally good action.
It isn’t.
Service is service. Sacrifice is sacrifice. Generosity is generosity. Secondhand is not. Controlling is not.

I called my engineer friend at SpaceX the other day.
1am Pacific. 3am in Starbase.
He was still in the office and not going home any time soon.
And he was happy. Energized. Because he's directly influencing the course of a multi-planetary future for humanity.
On a fundamental level, this is why Elon companies win. Young, high-competence people are given exceptional individual agency and semi-impossible problems.
And they know that their contribution is essential.
Any company that does this is much more likely to succeed. Elon does this without fail.
Inspires me a lot.

Beware the empathy exploit.
Empathy is good and right when thought through (deep), but can be deadly to civilization when simply stimulus-response (shallow).
For example, releasing a repeat violent offender may feel good at first (shallow empathy for the criminal), but it is wrong to do so when that person will go on to hurt or murder innocent victims, as there should be deep empathy for future victims.
