BREAKING: The Trump administration has asked OpenAI to delay the broader release of its upcoming powerful artificial intelligence GPT-5.6 model.
The request came from the White House's Office of the National Cyber Director and Office of Science and Technology Policy.
The U.S. government asked OpenAI to initially release GPT-5.6 only to a small group before a broader release.
The White House wants additional testing and will grant GPT-5.6 access only to 20 government-vetted partners during a limited rollout.
The move comes after the administration ordered Anthropic to suspend access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models and restricted access for foreign nationals over cybersecurity concerns.
