As a lifelong (former) Democrat, attending this event was not something I ever expected. I was there as an invited guest and family member of a murder victim. Many other victims’ families were there as well. After years of feeling ignored and dismissed, finally being truly heard—it was EVERYTHING.
In all these years, DA @JosePGarza has not given me even a single minute of his time.
I can say this honestly: Gov. @GregAbbott_TX spent more real time listening to and acknowledging victims’ families than DA Garza ever has. I could not have been more impressed by the time, attention, compassion, and respect he showed us.
For me, that spoke volumes.
