Director Connie He developed the story based on her personal experiences. She created a storyboard featuring:
🌀 a character design with pushed and angular proportions.
🌀 paintings inspired by abstract expressionism.
🌀 a series of hallucinations.
But after creating these designs, we realized these styles were too complex for traditional animation, and too unique for standard AI models.
