That’s because white poverty contradicts the mainstream narrative and throws a huge wrench into their standard class warfare rhetoric. So these people are just ignored by everyone and especially by all politicians on both sides.

A look into a "holler." The Appalachian demographic is 88% white. A gigantic, sprawling ghetto that composes a footprint of about 13ish states. The poverty rate averages out to approx 23% when excluding cities and metro areas that technically fall within those lines. Yet, somehow they are never the face of SNAP, WIC, Medicaid nor any other social safety net program.
