Deep in the Wuling Mountains, the girls' football program at Sanhe Primary School began with no proper pitch and limited equipment. But over the past decade, football has helped open a path to the wider world. The school has produced 53 national-level athletes, while more than 200 players have moved on to leading schools through football programs. Some carried flags at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, while others went on to sign with professional women's football clubs.
