Tomorrow, Thursday September 24th at 12:50 pm est, I will seek unanimous consent to pass the Connected Vehicle Security Act. This bill will ensure that automobiles produced, controlled, or owned beyond a safe threshold by companies domiciled in foreign entities of concern are prohibited from entering the US. Those nations are Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China. In the case of China, the CCP has created an historic level of overcapacity so overwhelming that they have become subsidized predators sending automotive fentanyl all of the world. In doing so, they are enabling the industrial suicide of the nations whose leaders are incompetent enough to allow them into their countries. Beyond that catastrophic result, these automobiles are roving surveillance devices - that the CCP requires by its own laws - be sent to Beijing. Where you drive, what you see, who is in the car, all captured by high definition videos. Flock cameras on steroids in the hands of the CCP! As if that’s not bad enough, these vehicles can be remotely controlled, including acceleration, braking, and steering all outside of the driver’s control. Total and complete insanity. I can’t imagine ANY American who cares about our economic security or our national security would object to the immediate passage of this bill. The idea that someone who is ELECTED to protect America from its enemies would object is beyond my comprehension. We shall see. 🇺🇸
