🎬A dialect-driven Chinese film has struck a profound chord with overseas audiences as the feature " Dear You" expanded its release into overseas markets starting June 18.
Shot entirely in the Chaoshan dialect, the film draws its narrative core from "qiaopi," letters and remittances sent home by overseas Chinese. The feature delicately depicts the bittersweet perseverance of early overseas Chinese, who upheld integrity, familial duty and unwavering hometown affection while striving to build lives abroad. It has become one of China's most unexpected box-office successes this year.
