Many of my Chinese friends are quite intrigued by the German green's cultural war against air conditioning. One of them, who had extensive experience working with Heinrich Boell Stiftung (HBF, the Green party foundation) Beijing office, was dumbfounded by the blatant double standard.
HBF Beijing office have 5 staff members. It has 5 air conditioning units for summer. For winter heating, besides the central heating provided by the building, it has additional 4 oil-filled electric radiators.
So typical for the greens, austerity for the population, comfort and even luxury for themselves, at the cost of tax payers.
