🧵 Elasticsearch can predict recall without building an index.
That prediction is what makes per-segment quantization tuning possible. 17% average QPS gain over DiskBBQ defaults, across 18 benchmarks.
The animation is the problem being solved: quantization moves distances, reranking pulls the true neighbours back.
