This is clear & decisive data about tourism for Canada's World Cup hosting cities - Toronto & Vancouver. Bottom line - there was no tangible bump in visitors. It didn't materalize. I went on Expedia during today's show - I can get a room at the Royal York in Toronto for $362 CDN ($253 US) tonight or tomorrow. There's no hotel demand. It's LESS than a usual June in the biggest city in Canada! "International land arrivals over the first weeks of June are actually slightly down year-over-year." - from the story. Either the cities themselves, & the hired guns they brought in knew this would be the case & ignored the warning signs, or they simply don't know how fans/supporters travel to major sporting events. You just don't get on that airplane unless you have a match ticket or you are certain you'll buy one. No one from Germany or Croatia or Senegal is flying to Toronto to watch a match in a pub or hotel lobby that their nation is playing in. Like....of course not.
