Candidate: $150,000.
HR: What’s your salary expectation?
Candidate: Somewhere around $190,000–$200,000.
HR: Sorry, that’s outside our budget.
Candidate: What’s the budget for the role?
HR: $120,000–$130,000.
Candidate: Then why wasn’t that listed in the job posting?
HR: Company policy. We don’t want people applying just for the money.
Candidate: Respectfully, nobody should have to burn a vacation day, sit through multiple interviews, and take time away from their current job just to discover the position pays $20,000–$30,000 LESS than what they’re already making…
