i dont think there's a right or wrong answer. i just think it's fucked that people get enraged at the thought of someone choosing their own companion animal over a stranger human. as if it's the inherent truth that non human animals have less value than humans, which is merely a cognitive bias

the self serving aspect of mine is that of course i would choose a companion over a stranger. as anyone would. the difference is that i view animals as equal companions and you dont.

everyone has a place here. im still working on growing my empathy and compassion every day. others seem happy where theyre at with a disregard for creatures who arent like us. i hope it gets better. i hope we get kinder. i hope we get closer to the Earth that holds us. i hope we all learn together how to nurture her back. the world should be kinder, and it's entirely up to us to make it so.

i dont kill bugs in my home, i say "hello" when the wasps buzz around me, i dance with butterflies and dragonflies, i talk to the trees, caress their leaves, i sing and whistle with the birds. i have so so much love in my heart for every creature. humans are not more special. sue me.

anyway yes i cry when i accidentally crush a bug and i mourn the bug, i grieve for every animal i see dead on the side of the road, i sit & cry with sick and dying animals to show them love in their final moments. a piece of my soul dies with every animal who loses their life to human error

people lacking empathy for non-human animals actually pisses me off so bad. i have never felt closer to human beings than other animals. we are all from mother gaia. we all have the innate right to life and freedom. humans are no better than non-human animals, you're just arrogant.
