A purpose-built house in Yucca Flat, Nevada, hit by an atomic blast 3,500 feet away during a test in March 1953. The flash ignites it before the shockwave even arrives, with the entire sequence lasting just 2.3 seconds. Over 900 nuclear tests were conducted in Nevada between 1951 and 1992.
