Anita, thank you for courage and for bravely sharing your story. It was a pleasure to meet you.
Anita’s story is a tragedy, and one shared by far too many families across the country who have suffered first at the hands of violent criminals, and again from the reckless decisions of rogue district attorneys and activist judges.
We will not kowtow to radical, lawless ideologies and we will give Texans more power to hold their local leaders accountable.

As a lifelong (former) Democrat, attending this event was not something I ever expected. I was there as an invited guest and family member of a murder victim. Many other victims’ families were there as well. After years of feeling ignored and dismissed, finally being truly heard—it was EVERYTHING.
In all these years, DA @JosePGarza has not given me even a single minute of his time.
I can say this honestly: Gov. @GregAbbott_TX spent more real time listening to and acknowledging victims’ families than DA Garza ever has. I could not have been more impressed by the time, attention, compassion, and respect he showed us.
For me, that spoke volumes.
