President Xi Jinping met with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso in Beijing. The two heads of state announced the elevation of the bilateral relationship to a high-level community with a shared future between China and the Republic of the Congo. The Republic of the Congo is the first country to reach an early harvest arrangement with China under the agreement on economic partnership for shared development and will soon benefit from China’s zero-tariff treatment. It is also the first African country to ratify the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed). The two sides should draw on the political strength of friendship and mutual trust, stay committed to mutual benefit, taking actions based on actual conditions and sustainable development, explore new ways for cooperation, and keep strengthening the dynamism for cooperation.
