New US-Iran framework looks like a deal but will prove a long-term win for Israel. Leverage and pressure ensure Iran gets constrained while America benefits.

The US-Iran MOU does not tie Israel’s hands — it actually strengthens its position against Hezbollah. While the deal creates a diplomatic framework with Iran, it also puts real pressure on Tehran to restrain its proxies. This gives Israel greater legitimacy and strategic room to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities more aggressively than before. Israel was already carrying the main burden of confronting Iranian influence in the region. The MOU makes this reality even clearer: the United States is focused on its own interests with Iran, which means Israel must take full ownership of neutralizing the Hezbollah threat. The logic is straightforward. Hezbollah embedded itself inside Lebanese society by exploiting weakness. Israel now has the opportunity — and the necessity — to break this cycle by demonstrating strength. The harsher and more decisive Israel’s actions against Hezbollah become, the more credible it will appear to Arab states looking for a reliable partner against Iranian expansion. This is no longer about asking for permission. With the current dynamics in place, it is in Israel’s hands to move decisively and finish what needs to be done.
