trying an abdominal binder and wow instead of +30 bpm on standing up it's more like +15 definitely makes upright activities more effortless and reduces the neuroinflammation i get from it

1/ my heart rate jumps from 59 → 95 bpm just from standing up this isn't normal! I never suspected this (in hindsight it's not surprising given my other conditions) but now it explains so much mysterious symptoms I've been having I want to impart what I learned in a PSA 🧵

was feeling a strain on my body recently even when my mind can be clear my sleep has been shorter as well and sometimes I wake up hot or cold turns out im not hydrating enough with electrolytes after I stopped taking LMNT due to gut sensitivity fixed once I start drinking salt water regularly

correction: organic cotton / down for beddings and pillows are great for me I tried naturepedic organic mattress and they also give me inflammation (and they really drag their feet when you try to return) avocado mattresses and pillows are no good when I tried in store best i found is a non organic mattress (beautyrest from mattressfirm) but certain spots of the mattress is more inflammatory than others (maybe corresponding to spring locations and midseam)

I tried eight sleep for a few weeks unfortunately the material is inflammatory for me so I always wake up kinda tired organic material is much more refreshing

ok lol today I learned CO detectors cross react with hydrogen gas so I have been doing molecular hydrogen therapy at home for a while and gradually ramped up the dosage the fire department's hand held detectors lit up like siren when I turned on the machine because hydrogen is lighter than air it concentrates at the ceiling where the CO alarm is anyway even the fire department learned a new lesson today and I better ventilate the place better

turns out my place has high carbon monoxide! fire department brought a whole troop alarm beeped yesterday and today for a period of time I did wake up a bit tired and felt a strain all day so I didn't take any chances and called 911 ongoing situation -- fire department investigating source of CO, which doesn't seem to come from my place I'll update as we have new findings

can walk normally now
my right foot suddenly flared up with no warning when I woke up today I can no longer walk any more even though yesterday it was just fine not the first time, but usually it's my left Achilles heel which has calcific tendonitis this time it's on the right lateral calcaneal area luckily I have an iWalk so can still go about my day what's the cause? I'm not sure this is directly related to my chronic lyme or long covid but in my (relatively uninformed) mental model all of these symptoms are caused by immune system freaking out at small things and generating cytokine storms -- but do let me know if yall have seen similar conditions

The migration in numbers: - Team of 16 engineers worked over 6 weeks. - We reduced our footprint from 6M CPU cores, to just 10k cores. - We are now using the same Grok-based transformer models that power your home timeline. - Eliminated 15 years of tech debt - replaced 1M LOC of Scala with just 50k LOC of Rust and Python

8/ still, I'm grateful that my case is really borderline -- I didn't even notice the symptoms until pointed out to me! other folks can faint from standing or lose their balance and hit their head please do share tips for managing if you have any!

7/ each time I do this I get some kind of systemic inflammation that in particular inflames the brain, which I perceive as lower energy, and can cause memory, learning, executive function impairments so now I'm much more careful

poop tests are just the joy of my life
just drinking (a little bit of) olive oil is surprisingly effective at calming down my stomach irritations

turns out LMNT salt was a big part why I had persisting stomach issues last few weeks this was made very obvious when I was fasting and took LMNT to maintain electrolytes I thought salt should be harmless right? but LMNT has stevia! which seems irritating to my gut (seems like a recent thing) I tried stevia separately by itself and can confirm I would take Da Vinci GI Benefits (L-glutamine + zinc carnosine, etc) to help with gut but I always felt like it made it worse first then better -- turns out it has stevia too! pure L-glutamine has no issues, purely helpful

I want to ask you to follow this dot with your eyes. Was that easy? Without you even having to give that much thought, your brain is telling your eye muscles where to move to keep your focus on that dot. 1/

looks like I have the TT genotype for the SLCO1B1 gene so I should have low risk for statin
@TheGregYang Did you get WGS? DNA can tell you if you're among the 15-30% of people who are at risk of toxicity and rhabdomyolysis from statins. The Patterson protocol can take many months so this treatment reportedly can be very rough. Low dose can mitigate the risk.

incidentally I took this long covid test (Radiance Diagnostics) during the same blood draw another cytokine test (CytoDx) but the results are wildly different!! to the experts: I understand that Radiance tests plasma and CytoDx tests serum but does that explain the difference? like what's the right mental model to think about these tests? what kind of sensitivity and specificity for what reference population should I expect from them?

turns out I also have a bit of long covid the covid S1 spike protein was found in my monocytes (a kind of immune cells) along with cytokine signature similar to long covid patients gonna try maraviroc + statin # the theory monocytes are like garbage cans that ingest viral debris and break it down; but for some reason the S1 protein resists breakdown instead it keeps the monocyte alive for long periods of time (months to years even) and increases its inflammatory signaling in one mechanism, these monocytes attach to capillary endothelium -> release inflammatory cytokine -> microclots form in blood vessel -> local tissue hypoxia -> more inflammation -> attracting more monocytes -> repeat this dynamics could partly explain symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, pain, autonomic issues, etc # treatment maraviroc (an HIV drug) + statin (a cholesterol drug) blocks the receptors that guide monocytes and bind them to inflamed endothelium -- when the monocytes don't feel the inflammation any more, they kill themselves safely (apoptosis), taking the S1 spike protein with them so eventually the S1-containing monocytes all die off and inflammation and symptoms mitigated, as the theory goes
